1995 F750 GCWR

Sorry if this is a duplicate. I did a quick search and didn't find anything.

I am looking to purchase a 1995 F750. The GVWR on the door is 30,000. I would like to know what the combination weight rating is. I have only found information back to 2002. They show the 30K truck as having a GCWR of 45,000 lbs.

If anyone out there happens to have a similar truck, I would like to know what you are rated at.

The purpose of this truck is to tow a 16,000 lb excavator around. Just wondering if this is well within its capabilities, or pushing it.

Thanks,
Jim

Is this a dump truck? I'm sure it would tow fine. I wouldn't tow and have a load in the bed. I think that would be too much and unsafe.
Best, Dennis....
PS.. I'm trying to help where I can but I'm also trying to get my 25 posts goal so I have more options.

GVWR: Gross Vehicle Weight RATING.

Ford says that the difference between the actual weight of the truck and its GVWR is what it can safely carry.

Well, in 1969, when the GVWR of a standard F750 was 22,500, the standard GCWR was 42,000. Optional was 50,000 GCWR. The point being that as a general trend, as you go back in time the GCWR was not less than but equal to or more than the '02 figures. Don't know if that's very relavant or not.

As Dennis pointed out, the GCWR is absolute but the "towing capacity" is relative to the load on the truck. If the truck is empty you can probably tow 30k plus and still be legit.
