I am trying to find the white stripe kit that runs along the bottom and around the fender wells for the 73-79 Ford trucks. I've checked LMC, Blue Oval, and several othere parts companys, and came up empty handed. If anyone can give me any info as to where to find this, please let me know. Thank you in advance for your help. I had a truck with this stripeing, but I cant find a pic of it, so I had to use another one. Sorry if its your truck, hope you don't mind.
The Ford P/N for the kit you want is D3TZ-1020000-G. I have been looking for one too. I have a kit but unfortunatley, part of the kit was damaged so I'm back trying to find another one.
I've pretty much exhausted the obsolete parts dealers and Ford dealers so I'm thinking that there are none available anywhere.
If all else fails I'll have Phoenix Grafix make a set.
I've taken a picture like that to a place called SignMaster that makes signs,lettering and stuff for commercial vehicles. They were able to reproduce from just the picture.

Thanks for the part number. Is yours for a short bed, or long bed? What part is damaged?

The same p/n is for both short and long bed, you just trim the stripe to fit.
On the kit I have muriatic acid leaked onto the box and trashed both of the bedside stripes.
I am trying to find the white stripe kit (Type #1) that runs along the bottom and around the fender wells for 73-79 Ford (1973/74 only) Ford Trucks.
CAVEATEMPTOR = Let the buyer beware!
The chances of finding a NOS (New Old Stock) stripe kit that will be any good are slim and none.
What happens is...after only a few years, the adhesive dries out, so the backing cannot be peeled off...without taking part of the stripe with it.
And...the hotter the climate, the faster this occurs. I kid you not.
There are two types of the type #1 kits listed in the 1973/79 Ford Light Truck Parts Catalog: 1973 is one year only / 1974 is one year only.
STRIPE KIT TYPE #1
Dual Stripe (1973):
White: D3TZ1020000G / Obsolete
No Ford Dealer or obsolete parts vendor has any.
-----------------------------------------------
Black: D3TZ1020000K / Obsolete
No Ford Dealer or obsolete parts vendor has any.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Triple Stripe (1974):
Black: D4TZ1020000A / Obsolete
GREEN SALES CO. in Cincinnati OH has FIVE = 800-543-4959.
But, will they be any good?
---------------------------
White: D4TZ1020000B / Obsolete
NOS PARTS SOURCE in Lenexa KS has ONE = 913-220-5746.
MILLER OBSOLETE PARTS in Binghamton NY has TWO = 800-546-7278.
BOB ALLEN FORD in Overland Park KS has TWO = 800-676-0675.
GREEN SALES CO. has FOUR.
If y'all buy any of these, and they're NFG...don't blame me!
--------------------------------------------------------- JRon: Are you aware of JST Automotive?
This obsolete Ford parts vendor is located in...Lebanon TN (615-443-3086).
If he doesn't have what you are looking for, he may be able to find it...as he has access to the same obsolete parts locator sites I do.
There's another obsolete parts vendor in Liberty KY: Wesley Obsolete Parts (606-787-5293).
I haven't done anything yet, stil trying to desside wether to go with the stripe kit, or the trim. From the searching around I've done, it seems like having one made would be the best way to go. I would almost be scared to spend the money on one and get it and it be damaged. Then you got a no good stripe kit and less money in your wallit. Nice looking truck by the way. What color is that?
Thanks for the reply and the complement on the truck. The color is bright lime (I can see why Ford only used in one year). In that picture it looks pure yellow but in different lights it goes from yellow to an awful yellow green, but I hated not to go back original. As for the stripe I guess I will have to try to get one made. I wish I had at least measured it before I started or wish that I had another truck close that I could measure. I have found a lot of pictures of the stripe though.
Another option that I'm considering is having the stripe painted on.
The reason I'm seriously considering this is because I'm planning on doing base coat-clear coat paint and can have the stripes painted under the clear coat. I won't ever have to worry about cracking and peeling like vinyl will eventually do.
Plus the '73 Explorer stripe is a relativley simple stripe to mask.
I have about 10 to 15 nos stripe kits left in a box somewere. If I can find them and have the one you need you can take it to someone who can use it as a pattern to make you a new set. You can email me if you have any questions.
