Question 2000 F350 Fuel Filler tube question

I have an early 2000 (built in late 99) F350.
The fuel filler tube opening is too small for the 'Truck' pumps at truck stops. Is there a different filler tube availabe so I can use the higher flow 'Truck nozzles'?

Check out Transfer Flow.

www.transferflow.com

They have aftermarket fill neck kits for the truck pumps.

I didn't see a kit for the 99-03 gasser. I guess if you replaced the entire filler tube and assembly it might make sense, just changing the filler nozzle to fit the larger pumps doesn't, the SD's will barely flow/vent fast enough for standard pumps.

IMHO, it's not particularly feasible. It's not like your filling 400-500L worth of saddle tanks. Do you really need to fill your tank in 2 mins rather than 4 mins? Are only truck pumps available where you are? Most commercial card locks have a standard gas pump(s).

No offense intended, just seems like kind of an odd thing to spend a bunch of money on.

Waxy, the filler kits are intended for diesel tanks, not gas tanks. It's not always about the speed of the pump, but the convenience. When traveling along the highway sometimes the only diesel pumps are at truck stops. I almost always try to stop at a truck stop anyway because you can assume they go through fuel quickly and sell fresh fuel. You can't always assume that when pumping from a regular gas station. Who knows how long the fuel has been in their tank and who knows what kind of price they are going to charge you. It's worth it for peace of mind that you are getting fresh fuel, and not paying $.40 over the market price for diesel.

johnsdiesel, good point, I never really thought of it that way. I guess for the diesel guys who are on the road a lot it makes some sense. I did notice that there were kits for gassers to '97.

Don't these truck stops generally have a standard pump though? I know every card lock I've been to has had at least one, often with the option of using either nozzle from the same pump.

I can see that in certain situations it is probably a worth while addition.

A lot of truck stops, not gas stations, don't have a smaller pump.

I forgot to mention that another added benefit of filling from a truck stop is the extra room in case you're towing a long trailer. You're guaranteed access at a truck stop no matter what you're towing.
