White Smoke a little Black

I still haven't changed my air filter (aftermarket) because no one has it. Guess I need to just order it.

The 'check air filter' light came on again after (after about 2 weeks) me resetting the filter minder and recently I have white smoke that's a little dark, like dark grey, sometimes while running.

Could this be my air filter that is causing the smoke?

No it is not your air filter causing the smoke.
Most aftermarket air filters are washable, such as the K&N.
When do you get the white smoke ,and what are the temperatures at the time .
I mean your outside temperature.

Sometimes it isn't a white smoke but rather a gray smoke. My truck does it from time to time. Mine is usually caused by a broken up pipe or oil leak into the exhaust. Could be worth checking at least.

Get it when I start the truck, F250. Outside temps are freezing or below.
Maybe I've taken off before it got warm? in 10 degree weather, not letting it run
for 10 mins plus, but maybe just 5 mins.
The smoke is just bellowing out, especially when I hit the gas pedal, but coasting down a hill and no pedal it doesn't smoke.

Smoke from cold is normal. It'll always do that.

Is it more than it used to be, or is this winter #1 with it?

Could be. Could also be signs of a EGR or head gasket problem.

You will burn excess fuel with a clogged filter and should get the fixed ASAP either way.

Good idea to smell the exhaust and see if it has a coolant or fuel smell to it.

Mechanic here said 6.0L often the egr cooler goes bad at around 120,000 miles (mine has 119,000) Said he'd put in a new one, with new oil cooler and fuel and oil filters.
About $1900.
