Found it on ebay. The listing wasn't very good, and didnt tell its true excellent condition. We had the high bid, but didn't meet reserve because we didn't know a whole lot about the details. We kept in contact after the listing and ended up in Detroit a few days later.
Heres where everything got good. We get there, look at the truck, and its even better in person. My dad asked how long they have owned it. Old man said "have had it since new". Turns out to be orginal owner with all paperwork from 1979. The guy used to work at Ford and ordered the truck with alot of rarer options.
The truck hasn't been registered since 98 and needed a tune up bad. Truck has been at the shop, and got all new fluids/oil, new plugs, distributor and wires. Should run like a champ now. The truck has 75,000 original miles. Has the 460 under the hood, and the two tone blue/white interior.
This is my 13 yr old sons truck we just picked up 3 days ago for $400.00 to fix up for his first truck to drive when he turns 16.
Day 1
Today
$400, that was a steal... Will your son be helping with the work?
Will you be doing a build thread?[/QUOTE]
Yes my son is going to help with the build (if I can keep him and my 5yr old from fighting all the time as the little one wants to help and the big one thinks he will tear something up and the little one found a $5 bill under the seat after the older one had cleaned out the inside) they have both been helping take the front clip off and hopfully they will both keep helping. I have started a build thread and will keep posting pics and info on progress as we move forward with it.
OK here's a photo taken just a few hours ago of my 79. This weekends project will be to clean the garage so I can pull my truck part way in at least to do the brake overhaul on the following weekend.
My Daily Driver (05 Suburban 2500 4X4) parked in the driveway too. We took the day off today.
Dang Lrgfather, that sure isn't enough parts to do a 4x4 swap lol ! I wish my yard looked like that!
I think my buddy and I have an addiction, about half of that istuff is his. I'm to the point where I need to start buying stuff like the lift, etc for the supercab and didn't want to tear it apart till I get it all. Mostly been working on my 65 F100 and getting ready to put together a 79 1 ton shortbed. We try to buy parts trucks cheap, keep the stuff we want and sell or trade the rest so we don't have very much $$ invested. That's how I got my 79 D60 HP front axle for free
