Compatibility issues of 06 Van V10 into 2000 F350
Anyone have input on compatibility issues installing a 2006 Van V10 into 2000 F350? I know the Vans and Motor<?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com<img src=" /><st1:PersonName>home</st1:PersonName>s continued to receive the 2V V10’s would this <st1:PersonName>work</st1:PersonName> in my 2000 F350? It looks like the air conditioner compressor is located high on the Van instead of low on the F350. What issues would this cause? Any other issues?

Anyone going to bite? I'm looking at a used V10 out of a 2006 E350 Van. It looks like the motor has a duel compressor and duel alternator. I should be able to remove these and have a stock 2V V10? When did they go to drive by wire? Would this be a problem? Could I use my 2000 manifold and throttle body?

That's what I'm thinking. Even if it's drive by wire I could use my intake and throttle body. I could use my wiring harness and any other items. I sure would like someone to confirm this work before I make the purchase. I never thought about or searched for anything newer then 2004 when searching for engines. I stumble accross this Van motor by accident and now might have the opertunity to upgrade to a newer motor then first thought. Really looking for more feedback before I pull the trigger on this deal.

There were different front covers, oil pans, intakes, etc used on them, but the dimensions are the same for using your 2000 model parts so they will mate with your truck.

I contacted partsguyed.com (Ed) on the compatibility of the 2006 E-350 V-10 engine fitting in my 2000 V-10 F-350. Ed said, the long block numbers were different and I should look for a different engine. He didn’t give specifics on what the changes were. I also spoke with Mike Butler from 5 Star Tuning; he thought the 5 speed transmission on the 06 might be the problem? Anyway, looks like I’ve resolved my original motor oil pressure issue so shouldn’t need to perform an engine swap. I’m still interested on what the differences are in the long block numbers if someone knows the answer.

I'm hoping you won't need it, but if you do, I'm 95% sure you could make this engine fit. As others said, you will need to swap over much of your peripheral stuff... like oil pan, intake, accessory drive.
But all the necessary holes are there.
I put the block from an '06 3V in my '99. The 3V block IS different and has a different part number. The big difference: It has TWO bosses for knock sensors instead of one.
I didn't find that to be too much of a problem.... I flipped a coin and put my single sensor in the right side boss....
And that is the only significant difference I found. The piston crown looked a little different, but I couldn't measure a significant difference in volume. May be a scosche less.
It seems logical Ford would use the same block for both 2V and 3V in '06.

Hi, Ed! It's Martin here... not sure if you remember me, but you scrounged up all the parts I needed when I did my frankenstein combo last year.
Can you check if the long block PN is the same for the '06 E-350 and '06 F-350?
If they are, it would confirm my suspicion that Ford did change the short block for both the 2V and 3V engines in '06. Boosting my confidence to 99%+ that this will work for the OP.

looks like they did'nt put a 6.8L in a van in 06, they did in 05 and 07 and those both have different part numbers then the 06. hmmmm?

Again-you should know how jacked up the parts system is, and how there are gaps and inaccuracies all over the place within it.

I better tell Ford they forgot to put that info in the parts catalog.
08/02/2004 to 4/18/2005 for the 05 listing in catalog
nothing for the 06 year
10/16/06 to 8/18/2008 for the 07 listing in the catalog
historically anything built after the 9th month is considered the next year make.
