Anyone local to Riverside have Auto Enginuity?

I'm trying to troubleshoot some issues with my truck.. The can tools I've been using are just code readers. I need something a little bore advanced.. I've been looking at the AE. It seems awesome, but 250 for the connector then another 200 for the updated Ford stuff gets it to far out of my price range right now.. The contract I'm working right now is going to end soon so I have to pinch pennies.. =(

Anyhow figured I'd ask.. Trying to make it better before I drive it to Fabulous Fords..

I've got one. I got it here thru the 94.5-97 powerstroke page from a site sponsor named Jim Rose at Rosewood diesel. Try this:

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/9...ge-update.html

what problems are you having?

Problem is a hesitation/surging while at partial throttle.. Plus sometimes it'll miss while idling at a stop light. It'll be idling fine and then just a tiny stumble for a quick second and then it'll go away.

If I'm in park I can push the throttle and between1100 - 1500 rpms (approx) I can feel it stumbling and hesitating.. However once I push the gas harder it goes away.. Just like when I'm driving.. If I mash the gas there is no issue, but just normal driving it seems to stumble/surge and buck real bad.

I have someone who said they took the pedal/tps assembly out of a wrecked truck and I'm going to try that today, but who knows if that part is good? I'd like someone to scan my truck.. I would like to buy the AE. I could get the $260 base, but I need the $200 expansion pack with it and just don't have that kind of money.

more info please? which truck? diesel or gas? Did you read the thread I sent? Sounds like you might be on to something with the TPS. A scan tool won't fix the problem you are describing IMHO.

Sorry for lack of info.. 2001 F250 with the 7.3L Diesel..

I did read the thread.. However I don't think the gauges will really help.. It doesn't go in depth enough to troubleshoot what I need.

There is a throttle position sensor mod that can be done. it sounds like that may be it. I think what happens is the throttle is a big rheostat and if the throttle sits in one spot cruzin the spot gets worn down and then it gets jumpy when it momentarily shorts. you can ohm it out and research the 94.5-97 powerstroke site dor the TPS info I hope that gets you goin

I've searched and searched and can't find the writeup on how to ohm out the 5 wire TPS that I have.. They are for 2000 and older.. Not the mid 2001 and newer like I have.

The truck has been sitting.. I've got burnt out on it and haven't touched it.. Stupid starter is giving me problems now.. It's got a bad "run on" issue.. not sure if it's the starter or solenoid.. But even with the key out of the ignition it'll keep turning the motor over. *sigh* Just overwhelming with all the little things.

So I've just parked it in the driveway and have been ridding my motorcycle everywhere. =)

So it's almost a year later and the truck is still having the same issues..

Anyone local have AE? I really want to get my truck fixed but not sure if I want to spend the $360 for the AE and "hope" it tells me what's wrong or if I'm going to have to take it back to the dealer and "hope" they can figure it out.. (last year they couldn't) So maybe it needs to go back to a different dealer.

Would you be able to run a scan on it anytime soon? Lakewood isn't "close" but it's not "to far" either.. I'm free this Saturday.. I'd really appreciate it.. Would be nice to have that done before I start blindly throwing money at it.

But watch.. I'll get out there and the truck will run perfect.. I'll be pretty mad then. lol

I'd be happy to, though I'll admit that I'm far from an expert in using the advanced functions...I can certainly pull all of the codes that are stored and take readings from sensors though.

Saturday works for me.

Pulling the codes is the easy part.. I've done that.. =)

I just need something to test the sensors to see if any of them are bad.. I'll touch base tomorrow to see if it's still good.. My truck drives better after it's warmed up and I'm wonder if I make the trek out to lakewood if it will be running like it should not not all crappy like it is now..

I guess there's that chance, but it should code if something's wrong.

The offer stands...pm me if you decide you want to ride out.
