2010 F250 6.4 First Dent
I can’t frigging believe it! My truck is just two months old and someone managed to put a dent in the tailgate while the truck was sitting in my driveway. I have no proof, and I didn’t see it happen, but I think it was the teenagers across the street who were trying to walk on homemade wooden stilts yesterday. I think one of the kids must have lost his balance and tried to catch himself on the tailgate of my truck. I do know the dent wasn’t there the day before. This really ticks me off big time.
I have the truck in the shop and they are removing the dent using the paintless dent removal process. Man that dent had me bummed out big time. Sorry, I just had to vent a bit.

I know how you feel. Our neighbor's kids are sports fanatics. Baseball, football, basketball and wrestling in their yard, our yard and out in the street. Our vehicles are like sitting ducks. I try not to be a total jerk but I sometimes have to speak up. Worst damage was from one of the lumber carts at Home Depot came rolling down the parking lot into the side of my then new black Dodge Cummins Ram. The manager gave me store credit for the damage repair cost so that worked out ok but I was sick about it. Hopefully, the dent in your tailgate will smooth out and be unnoticeable. I've watched the paintless repair. He used a graph reflection to watch and message the dent out from the inside. Couldn't find where the dent was when he finished.

My current truck is my first new one...I had more damage done to it in the first year than damage done to all previous automobiles I've owned in the last 20 years.
-"touchless" carwash scraped water jets down bedside and tailgate
-large stock cart blown off sidewalk of downtown shop and took out fender and grill
-UPS guy whiped out tow mirror
-weight dist hitch clamp left down jacked up the rear bumper when backing camper
-5 foot long to the metal keying down driver's side doors

If you went across the street and talked to the parents would they be open to it? Tell them that your new truck got dented and it looks like it was from the kids on stilts. Suggest a trade off of yard work, etc to compensate for the cost of repairs. It may teach the kids a few lessons about life, honesty, presonal responsibility and good citizenship...

The truck is fixed and the repair was awesome. Even though I know where the damage was, I can't see any evidence of it. The shop did a great job. I'm just out a couple of hundred bucks.

Sorry to hear it. The fact whoever did it didn't own up to it is seriously disappointing.
A favorite event of mine:
A famous motocross rider received his brand new ultra trick custom painted helmet, hand delivered by Troy Lee. It was spectacular and flawless.
Racer looks at it, profusely compliments Troy on his perfect work.
As he walks back to transporter, the rider SLAMS the brand new helmet into the bumper, scratching the paint. I'm in shock... As is everyone else watching.
He says, "There, now I'm not afraid to use it!"
That changed my life... Trucks are meant to be used. While I won't abuse it, I have chosen to not react to the little "badges of honor" it collects during life. And once it gets a few, I am able to enjoy the truck (or dirtbike, or whatever) a whole lot more!
