1960 Crew Cab Needs some help
#16
If this truck was a 1960, it would have an 0 not a 9 as the 5th digit of the VIN.
IMO, this is an early 1959, because the production date is August 25 (H25). Changeover to the next years model usually begins the first or second week of August.
btw: The OP listed the wrong RPM. The RPM on the Rating Plate is 4000, not 4090.
EDIT: After looking at the pics the OP posted, something smells, and it ain't hay.
This truck has a 1960 grille.
This truck has 8 lug wheels. How many F100's came with 8 lug wheels? N-O-N-E = NONE!
IF the VIN on the Rating Plate matches the (hidden) VIN on the frame rail, someone converted this truck to 8 lug wheels.
If the VIN doesn't match, it's a Frankenstein monster: Someone used a VIN off another truck (a 1959 F100) in order to register this one, which is an F250 (prolly a 1960).
This jazz is done every so often, because ppl find a vehicle without a title, so they use a title from something else in order to register it.
In this case, someone bought a ragged 1959 F100 for cheap, transfered the glove box door with its Rating Plate over to this truck.
If the VIN doesn't match...you can bet the farm this truck did not come with Ford-O-Matic originally.

J = 223 1V I-6.
0 = 1960.
H = Lorain OH Assembly Plant.
xxxxx = 1960 Numerical Sequence of Assembly (Serial Number).

If you want to keep this truck, I would not suggest trying to re-register it with this VIN, without proceeding with extreme caution.
If the truck was reported stolen at some point, and is still listed as such, you'll lose it, the money you paid for it, and WORSE...
You'll have to explain to the polizei why you received stolen property! I kid you not.
This is another possible reason why the truck was registered using another truck's Rating Plate and title.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The LA Times recently had a story about a guy who got his 1955 Thunderbird back...he reported stolen in 1979!
The Times story said the new owner bought it at an auction in the mid-west...then when he went to register it in CA, it came up stolen.
Now he has no car and is out 25 grand. He's suing the auction company to try and get his money back.
But, by the time his lawyer gets thru with him, whatever money he gets back, the lawyer will prolly take, so he won't get diddly-doo.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There is no way to discover any features the truck came with from the factory.
There are no build sheets available for anything prior to 1967, because FoMoCo threw all the records away decades ago.

There were less than 500 Crew Cabs S/O'd in '59 & '60, so Good luck in locating either of those doors specifically made for a Crew Cab or a Current Owner of a '57-'60 F-Series Crew Cab, that Knows what he's got, to let those doors Go for anything short of an Arm & a Leg.
What you'll probably wind up doing is what the Companies that did the conversions did, Modify the Doors yourself, if they actually did any modifications to the doors at all.
But to make sure, take Exact measurements of both of the Passenger-side doors of your truck, then take exacting Door measurements of a Standard Cab '59-'60 F-100 truck & see if Anything was actually done to them.

1960 crew
Mathais, I own the 1960 crew that is posted on this site, It was built in Orrville ohio, One of My biggest worries about My truck would be damaging a rear door, because I dont believe that I could find another one. I would be happy to help You out ,as much as I can, with some info or pics. Or If You would like Me to call You, let Me know. Kash

Kash, Thanks for the reply. I would love any help you can give me on rebuilding the rear doors as i see it as the hardest part of restoring this truck. The rest of the cab including the ceiling has its issues but not like the doors. If you have photos and or ideas, let me know. Where is your truck located. Would love to see it if I was anywhere near your neighborhood. Let me know. My number is 707-888-8777. Call me if you get a chance. I ran into another gentleman with a crew cab near me and was able to witness it first hand. Didn't have time to get all the info i will need so anything you share would be great. Were all trucks that were altered into Crewcabs built in Ohio? Seems like everyone i have come accross is a F25J0H, is yours as well? Thanks again. Mathais

Kash,
Do you have the original seats for your truck and would you be willing to part with them if you do? Did you dispose of the original chassis from the truck? Was it originally a 4x4 or 4x2? If a 4x4 did you keep any of the running gear.
I have trully considered putting the truck on a 01 or newer excursion/F250 frame. What do you think. I like the Power Stroke engines.
