how many ft lbs of tourque for my tranny pan

how many ft lbs of tourque for my tranny pan

hey guys anybody have an idea? i put it back together but it still leaks a little, i just dont want to strip anything, so if anybody has the tourque specs for the 420 diesel tranny pan bolts it would be much appricieated

20 lb if i remember.

hmmm, i think i may already be past that number, could it have been an off tightening pattern, or should i use some rtv along with the rubber gasket?

Warped pan perhaps? Or incorrect tightening sequence.

hey thanks for the advice, turns out i had only had my bolts tourqed to about 15lbs, so i uped em to 25 for good measure and no more leaking

I'm not sure what kind of gasket you have, but torquing the bolts to much can cause the gasket to squeeze out, you may also warp the tranny pan...but in your case I don't think 5 ft lbs will have any negative side affects.
