7.3 style rockers are much stronger, direct bolt on swap.

Dave, what is the difference between the two styles? I have yet to have the chance to open up a 7.3 and was wondering.

83 thru 86 6.9 rockers

Picture from DPS Performance.

Pivot point after 300 miles, notice the wear.

From the bottom, round means the rockers can shift around in a circle.

87 6.9 and 88 thru 94 7.3 style rockers

Square means no circles.

Rockers that go in circles make push rods that look like this, pictures from my collection now.

And that makes pistons sit like this.

With the block being destroyed in the process since it cracked when the valve made contact with the piston and broke the piston.

O.K. I see now. I am still looking for a set of 7.3 rockers myself. I have a buddy in Petersburg ky with a 93 F250 4x4 that runs it real hard and does little to no maintance on it. It also has the zf5 in it. I told him that when he blows it up i want first dibs on the truck lol. It also has a chuffing valve in it for the last 3 years and is still chugging along. i wonder if I will ever get a chance at that thing lol.

You may be waiting for a while yet.

I priced them for someone a while back, and if I remember right they were not that expensive.

Let me think a while, I may be able to remember where I priced them at.
Probably have a link on my dead hard drive.

someone mentioned getting a set for 96 bucks not to long ago. I forget which store it was, but I thought it was cheap.

I have an extra set of 7.3 rocker arms....once I get my engine put together and see I don't need them I'd be willing you sell you them for the price I bought them to help you out.

If the push rods are straight and within spec for length, there is no reason, they are the same push rod.

Who sells the 7.3 style rocker arms? Checked Napa and they have the same part listed for 6.9 and 7.3, which is the 6.9 style.
