I have the same set up, a unit for the main floor, and one for the upstairs. The main floor is a heat pump.

 

I have gas heat, but the AC during the summer, and you know how I feel about summer!

 

Just heard the steam valves crack open, they must be starting to spin the turbine up.

 

oh the excitement!

 

Takes a while to get things spun up, then have to sync up with the grid before we can close breakers.

 

I can feel the energy building up now!

 

I have my background noise back. It is kind of weird when it's so quiet around here!

 

How old is the plant, when was it built?

 

1973. We just got our extension to 2033. We replace a bunch of the main components in 2006. Nothing like seeing a big hole in the side of the containment building!!LOL!

 

that's one of the original ones, when the China syndrome was released!

 

It's also one of the smallest ones in the country, since we only have one unit. But, they've talked about adding another, now that things have loosened up with the licensing.

 

how are the construction guidelines, are they allowing new reactors?

 

Yep. It was the licensing that pretty much stopped new reactor construction. But, with the new reactor technology, and new safety equipment, the NRC has made it possible to finally get licensing for new reactor construction.

 

I remember alot of construction problems over the years!
