How many 1 Tons pickups were made in 1946??

hi
I am a proud owner of a 1946 1 ton pickup but as I have found it is impossible to find parts for the 1 ton! Does anyone know the production #'s for the 1 ton pickup and what is one worth all restored? I have seen 1 ton stake beds and flat beds but no pickups? Thanks let me know what you know!!
i also have a 51 Marmon-Herrington military ambulance (i understand that this ranger version only had 55 made and only 6 survive?) with 50,000 kilometers on the clock running the original str 6 Hseries motor with carb restrictor. this truck is a beatiful beast, tall and imposing with the dagmars and a great patina, this will be at the classic lemans in france in 2014 along with the 46 pickup if anyone out there gets to this event.

I too am a long time admirer of the one ton pickups. All that heavy duty running gear, 7.50 x 17s, gear whine, nothing like it. I have bought 2 one ton Ford boxes that had been made into utility trailers. The first I saw in a neighborhood and the last a craigslist find in the dry dusty side of Washington State in Spokane. I was searching for utility trailers and found a 9' box for a '57-66 f350. It had the short running boards. I later had to find a cab and chassis just to mount it on. I found a pretty nice 46 one ton box and narrowed it down to fit my '38 tonner. It didn't have a tailgate so I used a '54 gmc gate and welded in the Ford script into the center. Not original, but it made a convincing fake and I still had 10 years of fun using this truck as a daily driver. The running boards were '38 tonner on the front end and '46 on the back. You could see the joint, but once again, it solved the problem. Sometimes the cobbled up stuff is as much fun to own as a perfect original. Just depends on your mind set and how much scrounging around you can do.

You might want to turn your attention to the north and look in Canada. Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba were lousy with tonners. They were more numerous in the farming communities than the 1/2 tons. I know that first hand because every time I looked for parts for my '47 pickup all I got was people with tonners. There are still some parked in boneyards north of the 49th. They might be a little beat up but at least they're available.

So is there a place to research the serial number of the 31 Millionth?? I acquired this 1945 1/2 ton truck in 1980 from an auction outside Jackson WY. Story goes this truck was given to the farmer by Duce himself for the privilege of elk and deer hunting on his ranch. Henry Ford Jr, Duce, hunted there for years. I was always wondering IF this truck could have been that 31 millionth. Would I need to go to Dearborn, Michigan?

one ton owner
Hi,
I have a 1940 one ton. the cab forward is the same, differences are running boards, bed length, maybe tailgate, also rear axle and 17 inch wheels not 16 in. which means brakes drums, etc different. maybe even driveshaft and length.
i know there was a detailed book which a ford writer published, will try to find the title, it had these figures in it. My 1940 one ton ford made 2650? you can also google sites for auto mortality statistical calculations, from that age maybe only less than 1/2 of 1% would be left. it might be under another of my posts if you can search by my username - mprsox
this is my pic link..
