For those interested....I found a Lund trifold tonneau in my local Craigslist and met up with the seller to check the fitment wth my '10 tailgate. It fits fine....the gate is 1/4" taller, but does not affect the operation of the tonneau.

 

Does anyone have the Ford part number for the drivers side hinge needed to do this swap? I've talked to two dealers and neither can figure it out. I've been quoted from $6 to $60 and non of the parts they are pricing look like the hinge posted in this thread.

 

What are you going to do with the old one? I need a new tail gate cheap

Right before the new year I had someone hit and run my 02 F350. Fortunately all they hit was the tailgate. I am looking at an eBay one, but shipping from anywhere to Alaska is stupid expensive....

Anyway, question for all the guys that have done this mod... Can you still use the old tailgate with the new hinge? I would like to keep the old damaged tailgate to use when hauling rock and firewood etc, and us the nice new one the rest of the time.

Any input?

DO all the newer 08 and up tailgates have the tailgate assist torsion built into the tailgate?

 

I would guess that they do...
