Installed DB Diesel Turbo Boost Builder

My boost builder arrived today and was waiting for me when I got home from work. After looking at the instructions, I decided to install it before dinner was ready.

It was very easy to do. It took more time to take out the drivers side battery than to connect everything. It sits between the factory MAP sensor and the factory connector. There is then one wire that you have to run to the ECU and tap into the white wire from pin #37 (APPS Sensor 2 signal wire) on the 46-pin C1381a connector. This connector sits behind the drivers side battery. They include a POSI-TAP connector for the wires.

Total time from start to finish was 15 minutes. 5 minutes to make all of the connections and ten minutes to remove the battery, clean the area up, and reinstall the battery.

I am running a stock truck and noticed the difference right away. I still have a slight turbo lag. From a dead stop, WOT, boost jumps to about 31 psi, the truck takes off, and there is a little black smoke coming out of the exhaust. A noticeable difference when compared to a stock. For me, this was $85 well spent.

Tomorrow I will be installing the Sinister EGR delete kit.

It goes between the MAP sensor and the factory connector for the MAP sensor. It is a mount coming off the firewall on the passenger side of the vehicle. There is then one wire that runs from this device to a wire off of the ECU.

Here is a description of what it does taken from the vendor's website: "When the turbo produces a huge volume of boost pressure, the ECM typically sets a trouble code reducing the fueling and the power by 50-80 HP. The Electronic Boost Builder prevents the ECM from seeing the excess boost allowing for turbo to produce the air flow that is being demanded".

BD Power - Product: Electronic Boost Builders
Here is the boost builder. The only problem I could see is getting excessive boost if the vanes stick and pop the heads. Maybe a boost gauge would help keep an eye on things. I also here from BD that it helps with the low end turbo lag. dschuffert, keep us posted on how it works for you.

Yes, I agree, I'll have to keep a close I on the boost pressure. I did see their claim of reducing low end turbo lag, but I haven't noticed any difference as of yet.

A great mod if you don't want a tuner. Most sct tunes have fuel written in the lowend to do the same thing.
