Horn and cruise

It's the clock spring in the steering wheel.

Horn and cruise

Look up your truck here. The steering wheel is in the Steering section and the airbag & clock spring are in Chassis Electrical.

Horn and cruise

Here is the description from the service cd.

__________________________________________________ __________________________________________________ _

Contact Assembly (Clockspring)

The contact assembly provides electrical interface between the steering column (3C529) and the control switches in the steering wheel.

__________________________________________________ __________________________________________________ __

Your steering wheel rotates and your steering column is stationery. The clockspring is what is used to make the electrical connection between the switches in the steering wheel and the steering column.

Do you have an factory anti-theft system or keyless entry system? If you do then the horn should still work when you press lock twice on the remote key fob. It should also work when your anti-theft system is triggered.

If the above is true I would think that your clock spring in the steering column is broken since the horn would still work for the anti-theft and keyless entry.

Horn and cruise

It could also be the cruise control module. Mine went out and took the horn with it. For some reason the power is routed through the module for the horn and the buttons on the wheel.
