Question Wont shut off

I turn off the key and remove it. The engine shuts down but everything else stays on, the radio, heater fan, etc. I tried to search the forum but couldn't find anything about this problem. I'm guessing there is a stuck relay or a bad ignition switch. Any ideas??

Wow this is getting weird. When I shut off the truck with the wipers going it seems to be normal. If I shut off the truck with them off the radio and fan still stay on.

I am assuming this is not the normal "accessory delay." Water likes to leak through the tired front window seal and trickle down into the GEM or fuse box and can cause this type of strange behavior. I would start by looking into those two components for corrosion. A tell-tale sign is wet carpet in the vicinity of the fuse box after it rains.

It seems dry in the area. I will look for problems there however. This is driving me nuts!
Is there a timer for the accessory delay relay? If so where is it located. I checked the relay and it is OK. Actually I replaced it. Also, the blower motor did not run when key was off, my mistake, I thought it had.
Thanks .... Ken Gardner

Unhappy

Darn .... The problem just disappeared. I never found out what it was. I HATE IT when that happens!!
Bet it returns when I least need it to.
Any more suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks ..... Ken Gardner

Just a thought (again i have a 250 so YMMV....)

I had something like this happen a few times. When i turn my truck off, the radio and other shtuff stay on for a few mins or so, but it immediately turns off when i open my door.

One day i open the door and the radio doesn't go off... I sat there scratching my head for a while, then it went off, apparently from the timer. Then i noticed that the dome light wasn't going on when i open the drivers door... turns out the "door ajar" switch is in the latch, and it was getting stuck. A squirt of wd-40 and all was right again. (Door closes easier too).

door ajar switch

Thank you for posting your fix. I was almost ready to take my truck to a repair shop (something I hate to do) and tried your solution. It worked perfectly for only a few cents of silicon spray.
