Wow, where is everybody??? Pat takes a day off and everyone else skips out?
Happy Friday everyone.
Had a fun afternoon yesterday. Needed to take the kidlets home at lunch time since they got of school early. It was still nice outside, so I hopped on the motorcycle to head back to work. It quit on me along the interstate. Not fun, had to push it about a 1/4 mile to the exit, at least I wasn't in the middle of nowhere. Called the Yamaha shop after I couldn't find any obvious problems, and they came with a trailer to take into the shop. Not sure what's up with the bike, it lost all electrical power. I'm not impressed with the so-called 'superior reliability' of my Japanese bike.
Actually, I think the bike is out to get me since I have an appointment tomorrow to take it to a consignment place and get it sold.

i would say 1 of 3 things there rob...
1: lose bat cable..
2: dead bat from a bad alt or however them bikes recharge themselfs
3: bad started... either the starter itself of the solenoid..

Thanks for the ideas Shawn... I checked all the cables/connections after I got it off the highway. The battery was new last July, but you never know, could have gotten a dud. I had the bike running once a month throughout the winter. It was weird, the bike quit just like I hit the kill switch. But, there was no power anywhere, nothing on the odometer, warning lights, etc. The guys on the Yammy tech forum said it might be the main fuse. I didn't think of that, but, not even sure where that is on the bike anyway.

yup.. i be around lol...
yeah my trucks had 2 batteries in the last 2 yrs now... 1st one lasted me 6 months... winter hit and would be dead every day i went out... had 2 dead cells outta the 6 cells... the guys down at the store we got it from put it on their lil machine.. tested it and said it was "perfectly good" and wanted to know why i thought it was "bad"... when i told em it had 2 dead cells they wanted to know how i knew that... they thought i knew jack about batts... when i told em i tested it with a hydrometer they gave up and warrantied it.. my new one works great now...
dunno bout a fuse... but sounds more like the starter or starter solenoid to me... ive head dead spots in starters and bad starter solenoids that both did exactly what you describe happening on your bike... for me it was on cars and trucks... but an electrical system is an electrical system...
