I like to see a picture of your tailgate panel if you can post one. Dan

I used one off a early 90's bronco for my '85 F-250. The only thing that's different is the notch for the tailgate is not there, as the newer gen. Bronco's and F-Series have the tailgate handle mounted up higher. Otherwise the size in the same. I had to cut the notch in with an angle grinder, and I lined the sharp edges with 1/4" vacuum hose. Looks factory-ish, I imagine if you took the time you could make it look flawless.

I can't comment on how it mounts, as I simply used self drilling Tek screws in a few places to fasten it securely. It's been a year and still looks good, much better than the plain painted metal on a Lariat truck.

The only oddity I found, having used a panel from a Bronco, is there's a small hole for what I assume is a lock. I don't even notice it, but if you're looking for it, you'll find it.

1986 F-150 Lariat needs red tailgate trim

Hey guys,
I know some of these posts are old however if you still have a red reflector or a whole trim panel for a 1986 F-150 tailgate in good condition, I need one! The 86 model has horizontal grooves down the length of it! Thanks!
