airbag code 2/7
1999 F-250 SD 4x4 5.4lt engine. I have read through other comments and have found that the universal answer to this problem is to replace the passenger airbag lightbulb. However, when the key is turned off (on the passenger side airbag switch) this light stays lit, the main airbag warning light again flashes 2/7 and then stays lit. Is there any other info available for this, or should I still replace the light with the LED/resistor set-up that I have read about? Also, if it should be replaced, how do I get to the lightbulb? Does the surrounding ring snap off?

This code 27 is displayed for the "PAD" warning lamp being inoperative. But doesn't mean that the lamp is bad .The following can cause this
an open or short to ground on circuit 113(ye/lg)
a damaged or burned out PAD indicator
Bad PAD sw
Damaged or inoperative RCM module(restrants control module)
or some other RCM problem.
These airbags are a complicated system ,and should not be tampered with without equiptment to deactivate them .they can be triggered by
disconnecting things an cause them to deploy unexpected.can be dangerous .
My suggestion is to let ford handle it !
Just my $.02

Thanks to FortyFords, I agree with letting Ford fix it - I had been under the impression that it was a simple repair (I have a some mechanical background and my father is an Electrical Engineer). You know what they say about "a little bit of knowledge...! I just like to be armed with some information as the Ford dealers in this area are less than average in their histories (last repair was $2k in front 4wd parts that another repair shop fixed for $125). Thank you again for your response, hopefully I can return the favor to somebody else.
