I have seen many pictures of ’51 and ’52 Ford F-1’s and this post is merely for my curiosity...

Not sure what you call it, but it is the trim piece that attaches to the nose of the hood. I know the '51 and '52 trim was different for this piece.

<OThis question is for all you old timers out there that may remember what the original trucks looked like... I have seen pictures of this hood nose trim in all types of color schemes. For example the picture below shows it as being in trim color.

<OOn the original '52, what color was this hood nose trim piece? Was it body color, trim color, silver, chrome, etc? <O</O

 

Ford calls the part a hood ornament. And period literature, ads and sales brochures, like the one pictured below, always shows the hood ornament as body color.

 

I concur with Wayne. I just checked all of my 1952 Ford ad posters and literature and all have the hood ornament painted the same color as the body.

 

My 52's nose is painted the same colour as the hood. Somehow it just looks right to me.

 

That's for 52 and that is correct, it was painted body color.

The 51 Ornaments were painted white for Five Star Cabs, and Chromed For Five Star Extra Cabs prior to the mid term change and all chromed after that.
