Good recurve kit

My timing chain broke yesterday, so I figured it was time for an aftermarket kit to set the timing strait up, but I do not know what kind of recurve kit I need, or what to even look for in a recurve kit. I know basically how it works, and you adjust the springs to give you maximum advance at 3000 rpms, roughly (depending on use of the motor, right?)

Anyway, can someone point me in the right direction?

timing chain and the associated gear set you are thinking of replacing affect valve timing. any aftermarket set with multiple keyways should allow you to correct for the built-in advance on non-truck engines...

a distributor recurve kit (with different springs & stuff) affects spark timing, not valves. pretty sure you could find such a thing at summitracing dot com for whatever distributor you have, stock or otherwise...

EGR is still on it, but I want to pull it off, set the timing strait up,and recurve the distributor. I haven't had the chance yet to pull off the plate in the distributor to see if I have the 10L and 15L, or the other. I ordered a ford racing double roller timing gear set, and while I have most of the stuff off the motor, go ahead and pull the dizzy out, intake off, valve covers off, and repaint it all. It's funny how one thing turns into 10.

I can't seem to find a curve kit, with springs and weights. I thought I read that crane made one, but I cannot find it on their site. All the ones I see are for HEI, which I obviously don't have. My distributor is a stock ford dizzy. Duraspark II ignition. I need to get this ordered, so it is here when I need it to be.

Anyone?

Please have a look here :

Duraspark_distributor_recurve_instructions_index

and get in touch with Scott with all your engine specs and intended use, he will help you out.

Bought a special recurved Duraspark dizzy from him, runs fine.

Check Summit for the springs, I think Mr.Gasket makes them. Crane made the kit including springs and new vacuum can, but no weights and they are no longer in business, but you may still find the kit.

Mr. Gasket 928G - Mr. Gasket Advance Curve Kits - Overview - SummitRacing.com

This is what I'm not sure about, will that work on my distributor? Or this one?

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/MSD-8464/?rtype=10

This is why I guess in having a hard time finding a kit, because I would like the MSD one with more bushings, and it seems like a spring is a spring and should work in any dizzy, but I want to know before I order.

Also, It says that the kit will allow the engine to reach full advance between 2000-2800 rpms. My motor isn't a stock motor, mildy built. It sees alot of highway driving, cruising about 3200-3400 rpms. Will it reaching full advance at 2800 affect it's highway performance? Right now (before timing chain brake), highway driving was a dream and had alot of power, just a dog at low end.

400 w/RV grind cam, edlebrock intake and 650 carb with hooker headers. Now I plan on setting the timing strait up and pulling the EGR valve off.

You can't buy the weights or the clips that hold the weights on anymore for a Ford dizzy.

Edit: the MR gasket set says it is for single points dizzy.

What about the MSD springs and bushing? I would like to think yes, because MSD also uses the same pickup coil.
