Serp belt tensioner...RH or LH threads??
Bearing's out in my tensioner. Got a new one to put on. Didn't buy the whole unit, just the new pulley with bearing. Belt has plenty of tension. Changed the idler pulley. It took quite a bit of torque to break it loose but it finally came. Realized the belt tensioner was bad too and can't get the bolt loose going through the bearing. Reluctant to put much more leverage on it. Is it a RH or LH thread holding the pulley to the tensioner?

That's what I was figuring it was. RH. Just can't get it to break loose. The tensioner or "dampener" as the store calls it, is absorbing most of the torque. Don't see any good place to get a wedge in there to jam it up to. The only good spot is on the fan and water pump pulley and don't think that sounds like a good place to do it. I might be able to get a small 2x4 in there and up against the body of the water pump. Any body have any other ideas that have worked?

No big deal. What threw me was that the idler pulley, right below the tensioner and rotating the same direction was RH threads. Was definitely one of those which way do I go things. Made sense to be left hand due to the spring load but also made sense to be right hand because of the idler pulley and also because it wasn't marked LH threads. Oh well. Now we all know. LOL..
