Need a title

Hi gang,

I am in need of a title for a 1954 F-750.

I have a bill of sale, but it is not valid where i live and plan to register the truck.

Thanks

Call the head office of your state DMV in the state capitol or go online and see if the info is posted on how to obtain a title for a older vehicle that doesn't have one. Most all states have a relatively painless procedure to do so these days, but the local DMV offices are often staffed by contract management people who know nothing (and/or don't want to know) about out of the ordinary procedures. Don't try to get a bogus title from another truck they are wise to that dodge these days and it could cost you a lot of grief. The original serial# should be stamped on the top of the pass frame rail near the firewall. You may need to do some scraping and sanding to find it and read it.

I try that route.

Anther thought may be to search for a local 'Tag and Title Company", lots of folks nowdays do this as a small business on the side, they can do all the footwork and paperwork for you ..for a small fee of course...

But hey..they're in business too right?...Be sure and call them first,..and explain your situation..then ask if they can help you..

If a local authority was to vist you to confirm title #'s to truck just show them the vin plate on the door post or in the glove box . They are just looking for #'s . They would not know where to find them or read them anyway . All they want to see is the title matches the trucks #''s .
That was the case when the local gestapo visted the compound here to verify that the stock '52 truck's vin plate #'s matched the title #'s .It was a '52 F-5 title from Kansas and a '52 F-1 from Ct. .I just showed him the truck , title and vin plate . He didn't know what the #'s meant anyway . He didn't have a clue .

Jim, most states have a process to get a "Bonded Title". Check with you DMV is see if they have this. Your insurance company can supply with the necessary bonding. It is pretty reasonable here in Texas.(couple hundred bucks)
