Shes alive......

Yay , I got the ol-girl started up today, it only took a new fuel pump and gas tank. She runs rough but she runs which isnt to bad since shes sat since 1985. Now I need to figure out which tranny I have so I can get a new filter and fluid since she doesn't move to well, took me about 3 minutes to back her outta the garage and I wont mention the crashing into the wifes totes when I pulled her back in the garage ....LOL If anyone can help me figure out what tranny I have id appreciate it, the numbers off the side are D4DP 7006-A. I think its a C4 but want to make sure, thanks in advance...

Hey that's great!

Chances are that if it's an automatic, it may be low on fluid. Did you check it?

Do so with it warmed up, running, after cycling through all the gears, in park, at idle rpm.

Add fluid by the PINT only and recheck after each addition. DO NOT overfill the transmission!

It's hard to id the trans by numbers, since anything you'll find on them will only be engineering numbers for the actual part they're cast into, and have no real bearing on the trans or it's application. It's better to id them by pan shape. See if this chart helps.

Thanks for the info, ill check it out in the morning. The plan is to get a new filter (oil and tranny), fluid (oil and tranny), water pump, thermostat and a temp gauge just to be on the safe side.

Walford, yes it does feel awsome... I wish mine had the Yblock in it still, origanially it had the 239 in her but was changed out for a 250 inline 6 so I guess that will have to do for now. Now I'm off to the parts store to get the goodies so I can change it all out tomorow when I'm off...

Wow its amazing what a new tranny filter and fluid will do for you when trying to drive a truck. Now if I could just get it to stop I'd be happy....lol
