Instr. cluster replacement

Just want to make sure I have this right after doing alot of searching. I need to replace my inst cluster on my 2000 f150 lariat. This can not be done without reflashing the computer by a dealer, right?

The replacement cluster will need to be programmed so your PATS keys will work with it.

If you just replace the cluster, the engine won't start until the anti-theft system is re-programmed with your keys.

Haul it to a dealer for reprogramming.

Haul it to the dealer.

Why can't I pull out the computer, take the cluster and my key to them and let them handle it? It would be cheaper for me than having to call a towing service

Call the dealer and let them tell you what they think of that idea....

I soldered the terminals instead of replacing the cluster. Much easier.
Thanks to all
