What is the spring for?

While replacing my speedometer cable this spring fell out from under the truck.

Can anyone tell me what this might be for:



It is definitley broke

Well, it's broken first of all. It should have another extensionon it where you can see the bright metal.

Based on it's shape and the junk on it, I would venture to say it is the spring that holds up your brake or clutch pedals. It might be a brake spring, but I doubt it. This type of spring is also used to pull your throttle back as well, but this one looks too heavy for that.

Clutch petal return spring.

I'm thinking maybe a clutch return spring since there is a little play when the peddle is all the way out.
