Rearend Vibration...

ok,

so i just hit 53,000 miles a couple days ago and yesterday on my way to church i noticed a slight shudder/vibration coming from the rear-end while pulling away from a stop and turning.

now, i'm pretty sure it's the clutch packs but is this normal for just over 50,000 miles. I do some towning and when i do it's either firewood or a 4wheeler so not to heavy and i'm not hard on it by any means.

will the dealer fix this or are they going to try to screw me witht he bill?

thanks,

I will put money on the clutch packings... Mine went at 59k and damage had i not had warranty would have been like $800 but if you have warranty there is a TSB for this problem I would have to dig the TSB number up but there is one

Just had my clutch pack changed. 78,000 kms ~ 48,000 mi. Would have been $1300 if not for the extended warranty.

Mine is doing the same thing at 60,000. How serious of a problem is it? I need my truck this weekend and don't have time to get it to the shop before then.

You can DIY but if you dont know anything about aligning the gears back up and backlash etc i would just bring it in. and as far as after market i dont think they make anything that will fit into stock? i might be wrong. If you were to DIY and not knwo what your doing it could turn from $500-600 into $2500 after replacing everything

well, i got the truck back today. They said their isn't a TSB for it and said that all i needed was some more friction modifier. i'm a little hesitant about it. I have 53,000 miles on it and they are trying to make me pay the bill also for the 1/2 hr labor and friction modifier they put in today.

what do you guys think?

Well, I talked to my local mechanic today about the clutch packs and he won't touch it. I guess I got to bring it in to the stealership. Just glad it is still covered under the extended warranty.

My bad, even if there is no TSB it should be under warranty if you have warranty because even with out the TSB they said it was still covered adding more friction modifier wont solve it if the clutches are already shot

they said they opened up the rear and the oil wasn't dirty. The chatter i was getting was only in the morning when it was cold so to speak so i thought maybe it's just a sticking clutch pack. I'm not hard on the truck at all so i thought maybe the friction mod might fix it. i just started noticing it so it's noly been happening for a couple days now and only a couple times i drive. Once i'm moving a coupel minutes it stops for the most part.

well, they put in the friction mod and the chatter is gone so i guess that fixed it. We'll see what happens down the road but it seams to be fixed as of now...
