They'll fit. I had 33x12.5's on mine with no lift which is about equivalent to the 255/85 diameter wise. The front bumper has to be trimmed though.

yes they will fit. I have 285/75r16's on my '97 F250HD that hasnt been lifted at all and they work just fine. The 255/85R16's are only 1/4" taller but are over 1" narrower, which will more than make up for the difference in height. I am planning on putting some 255/85R16 on my truck next time change tires to try to get a few less revs per mile and a narrower tire to get better economy.

I am planning on buying some LT255/85R16 BFG KM2 mud terrain ta and installing on my stock 96 f250 CC short box today. Not to hijack thread but will I have to do anything with the front bumper? I just took a quick measurement of the opening and they look like they will clear fiquiring they are about 33.5".

Well I just got done mounting and balancing my BFG's they actual did not take more than 3 ounces each. I don't think that is bad for a big aggressive tire. Did not have to do any modifactions to the front bumper or any thing. I will post some pictures tomorrow afternoon.
