New Owner - Backup Camera

My wife just purchased a 2007 EB w/the NAV system. This is our first Ford and I'm not too familiar with the brand. Has anyone purchased a rear backup camera and hooked it up to the NAV so you can see when you backup?

I know the new models have this functionality, but I'm wondering if you can purchase a kit for a 07.

I think you'd have to send your radio away to have an additional input added. There are some posts from 2007 about this... companies were charging $400 to do the electronic work and nobody seemed that interested in it.

Ford doesn't offer that from the factory.

Instead, Ford installs a camera in the chrome flashing on the rear hatch (where the hatch open button is).

then the screen is hidden in the rearview mirror

I have this setup on my Expy...and it is amazing. I am very happy with it. Someday when i'm not so lazy, i will re-route the feed to my JVC headunit. then I can trade rearview cameras with my Mustang so it can have a camera as well

Here is the module that you can hook up to your nav unit to get the input for the camera. You do not have to send your unit off and it is all plug and play.

FORD 360 LOCKPICK

I am about to do this in my 07. I have somehow collected 2 used complete chrome housing/camera units and a spare camera. List on the housing units is $600. After I get mine installed I will be selling one of them pretty cheap if you are interested.

TIKT B8,

Do you still have the chrome trim/camera assembly for sale? I've got an '07 Expy EL Limted that I'm getting ready to order the Lockpick for, but didn't really want the license plate frame mounted camera they sell... Though the guide lines seem nice. How about the OEM vs aftermarket camera image quality?

TIA

You might want to do some additional research on Lockpick.

You might search their name in these forums.

Or google Lockpick Customer Service.

You know, just to be sure before you send your money away.
