A ZF out of a 87-97 F 250/350 with a 460 would work, but you will have to fabricate up a hydraulic system. You will have too adapt your transfer case to fit and get different length drive shafts.

It will involve some fabrication because this truck never came with that transmission from the factory so you have to make some stuff. First you will have to find a way to make your clutch peddle hydraulic instead of mechanical, you will have to make a cross member because the transmission mount is different, and you will have to find an adapter to bolt your new transmission to you transfercase and move your transfercase mount too. If you wind up moving the transfer case which I am pretty sure you will you will need to get new drive shafts of have you current ones changed to the right length.

Actually, if his truck is a 4x4, the transfer case will bolt right up. Also, the ZF-5 uses an external slave cylinder. A mechanical clutch can be used.

While the t-case will bolt right up, it requires a small bit of grinding to clear a shift rail.
Thid depends upon which adapter is actually used. The later one will require some work.

I have done this swap and am using the stock mechanical clutch linkage, as well as the stock length driveshafts. Check my gallery for some pics.
