2004 F150 Triton V8 - Engine knocking

My check engine light came on the other day so I went to Auto Zone and had a diagnostic test ran on my truck. The guy said the test indicated my knock sensor, that it could be bad, loose, or dirty. I took it to the shop and they are claiming that my engine is knocking louder than it should be. They are having trouble figuring out the problem and told me to try changing my oil, using a heavier weight, while waiting for the knock sensor (and other switch i had to get replaced) to come in. I was advised otherwise and didn't change the oil weight, but instead I used gasoline from Shell instead of the cheap gas down the street. After putting in the Shell gas, when I started my truck the check engine light didn't come on, however it came back on a couple of days later. Does anybody have any info that could help me out? I'm not an engine genius by far, and could use some help! Any info is much appreciated!

how many miles on your spark plugs, the 3v motor has a bad plug design mine went bad (no5) at 40k but mine did not throw a knock code mine was a misfire code but something to think about maybe carbon build up vs piston

I'm not exact. I do know that I did have the spark plugs replaced about 6-8 months ago. I would say a guesstamit of about 6-8,000

I'm not sure they didn't say. I will call the shop and tell them to check my plugs. Will let you know what happens.

most of the time they will tell you because the bill will change alot unless under warranty. i ended up paying about $580 to change my plugs and went 3 days w/o it while the got the tools to remove the bottom of the plug
