That sucks man, I suppose it's better that throwing a rod lol.
I don't know if ford racing still has a yearly sale but I bought my X306 for about 2800, long block. Little bit more power but it's a strong block.
Just want it to run again or do the swap to a 351.
But if it's easier to do a rebuild yourself than go for it.

If I keep the truck, I may go this route and reuse my old upper/lower intake, cam, and possibly the heads for a little while. If funds allow I may go to aluminum heads and an Ed Curtis cam now, but will probably have to keep my Typhoon upper/lower intakes. I've read that the Holley systemax and the TFS intakes are better choices, but funds probably won't allow that right now. Decision has been made to keep the truck and give it one more shot. If it doesn't work out this time, it's gotta go. I love the truck and it's a lot of fun to drive, but I would much rather be jumping on my drag truck project. So, if it lets go again soon, I will go get another diesel and say it wasn't meant to be for me to drive modded gas engines. LOL
The plan is to build a 347. We'll be looking for around 10.5:1 compression with either Probe or Mahle flat top forged pistons, AFR 185s with upgraded valve springs and titanium retainers, reuse my Typhoon intake, and the cam is still up in the air. If anyone has experience with cam choice on an engine like this, let me know your thoughts. I would like to be able to rev it to 6500 when I need it in the mud without worrying about valve float, but I need to keep the cam streetable..
