BFG A/T's or M/T's on F-250
I have a 1973 F-250 4x4. I currently have 33x12.5x16.5 Cooper Radial LT's. I'm stepping up to 35x12.5x16.5.
I would like hear from anybody who has run the A/T's and the M/T's.
In rainy or snow conditions did the A/T perform signifinitely better than the M/T's. Or did you not notice enough difference between the two to warrent using the A/T's over the M/T's.
I want to run the M/T's for off-road, but I'll spend enough time in wet and snow to stick with the A/T's if they outperform the M/T's by a larger enough margin.
Thanks.
Eric

IMHO, with tires that size, it won't matter what you have on when you hit the packed snow or ice, you'll be all over the road when compared to a narrow tire like a 235/85/16. At's will out perform a Mt by a large margin for the simple fact of siping, but like I said earlier your tire size is so large that it probably wouldn't be noticeable.
I'd prolly get the M/t and park the rig when it gets lousy (Icy) out.

The M/T does pretty well in the snow because of the tread design. I like them better than an AT. AT's are not as soft as an M/T, the soft compound is much better on ice. The M/T does better in deep snow and moderately packed snow. It also is better on ice over an A/T. The A/T does a better job on the slushy snow. My M/T's are ok in the rain, not special and not horrible, 1-10 I give it a 7. I would guess the A/Ts are a little better in the rain because of the sips. I love my M/T's and wouldn't buy A/T's. The M/T's will wear a little faster than the A/T's because they are softer. I was faced with the decision of A/T vs M/T and the BFG m/t got excellent reviews in all areas of the magazines I read. When I got them last year when there was a lot of talk about them by magazines.

I had the BFG A/T on my Bronco for 50,000 miles. I wore them down pretty good. Personally I would NEVER buy them againg. Don't waste your money, the A/T tires perform very badly off-road. They stink in mud. The only thing they are good for are those tire swings. Go ahead and get the M/T. They are AWESOME off-road in any condition. They also provide a very smooth ride. Also they are not that noisey at all compared to other mud tires. On a noise rating of 1-10, 10 being the loudest i give them a 6!! Hope this helps. GET THE M/T!!!!!!
