Fuel Smell In Cab

After the truck starts up i have a fuel smell that is constant inside the truck while it is running but i am only seeing a slight decrease in fuel milage. I am thinking it is the fuel pressure regulator does this guess seem correct to you guys

I had a fuel line near the filter corrode and leaking on my 95. To find the leak I just parked in a dry parking space and let the truck sit and idle for about 10 minutes and followed the drip. You could also look for wet spots underneath if your rig is fairly clean. Mine was rust and mud so it wasn't an option for me at the time.

I just changed the filter about 3 weeks ago and checked for leaks from the tanks to the motor while the engine was running after i completed the job I live in arkansas so rust really isnt an issue for me here because i dont live in the salt belt where they bathe the roads in salt. it just started the smell after i changed the plugs and plug wires and coil pack

Check the vapor canister connections and the vent tubing from it to each tank.
They can rust through at the bottom of the tubing just from condensation and splashed water over time ( salt would just add to problem). I found pin holes in mine just behind spring tower and under the bed where it crosses over to the tanks. There are rubber connections at canister and at first tank where it Y's to a second tank that may also rot.

I didn't necessarily smell fuel in my cab, but I smelled it when I got out. I was setting the alignment. Turns out my dual-tank selector valve is leaking. That's getting replaced as soon as I can get to the junkyard and find one that doesn't look like it's leaking.

well i decided to look under my hood for the issue, low and behold there is fuel leaking at the spot where the injectors meet the fuel rail so this weekend i am going to replace all the orings on my injectors I am wondering if putting a new fuel filter on would have caused this?

Who knows, make sure you lube the orings with petroleum jelly (vaseline). They'll slide in so easy you'll think they aren't seated haha. And since it's a petroleum product it won't hurt anything.

if these are the regular black rubber o-rings then you DONT want to use any vaseline on them.....it will deteriorate the rubber, you want a good silicon o-ring lubricant....can be found at most any pool supply store....

if your talking some sort of synthetic material i assume vaseline would be fine.....but the silicon o-ring lubricant i think would hold up better and condition the o-rings for longer life

im not sure what material these particular o-rings are made of, i just know if its your basic black rubber your asking for trouble with vaseline....
