Noisy fuel injectors

My 2004 F150 with a 5.4L engine starting making what sounded like clicking lifters at about 90K miles. The dealer tells me it's just noisy fuel injectors and to just get used to it. Has anyone else run into this problem? Will new injectors fix it?
Thanks,
BJ

I have a 2005 F250 5.4L and with 70K miles and have started hearing the same thing. I was told it could be dirty injectors. It only makes noise when I hit the gas. I have added an injector cleaner to see if it helps. Is anyone else having this issue or is there a bigger issue with the 5.4L?
Steve

I've had mine cleaned a number of times and the noise is still there. I used to only hear the noise on acceleration, but now it is there all the time.

Yeah got the same noise in '05 EXP EB 4x4 with 97K. I ran injector cleaner through and it sounds the same, but accelerates better. Eventually may replace the 8 injectors, unless any other ideas??

Ditto on the clicking noise, but it sounds like valves on my stethoscope. Another thread by a Ford tech says Fram filters kinda come apart sometimes, and clog oil passages to the valves.

What should "healthy injectors" sound like with the scope? I'll give a listen, and then listen for the valves..

They all make noise. With a scope you will hear it clearly, even on new engines. I was shocked when I noticed the noise in my Mark VIII. It sounds just like loose valves. Live with it, get a noisey muffler or straight pipes and you will hardly notice the clicking.

I have an 04 F150 and i also hear a tick, It is lounder at low idle and its soft enough that i'm usually the only one who hears it but that being said it still bothered me. If it is the same sound everone is talking about, the rumor i heard is that when the motor was redesigned the surfaces on the engine and the exhaust manifold remained the same however the exhaust manifold gasket was made thinner on the inside portion. By inside portion i mean closer to the exhaust channels in the manifold. since a very minute space exist there, after some wear the gasket begins to flutter against the exhaust manifold making a small tapping sound and once the engine revs up the gasket is press outward agaist it causing the sound to fade away. i asked if the problem ever gets worse or is something i should fix and the replacement of the gasket is a job on the books slated for about 9 hours. I think that comes to more than i should pay for peace of mind. let me know if that helps at all or if it sounds like i've been bamboozled.

Buy a mechanic's stethescope and identify the exact location of the noise. Injectors can get pretty loud.

Does your truck have a purge solenoid? My 2003 jeep did and my bmw but not sure on the fords. It sounds exactly like lifter tick or injector noise.

I had a coil go bad (#8, what a fun job!) on my 99 5.4 2 days ago, and after I replaced the coil and plug the motor was making a loud ticking noise (that I didn't have before) which got somewhat quieter as it ran. At first I thought the plug was loose, so I took it back apart and reinstalled. Still ticking. Thought it might be a 'bad' new coil, so I went and bought another. Before replacing, started again, and still had noise but not as loud. mild at idle, loudest at 1500 rpm, then quiets down at higher rpm (in park). felt some of the other coils while at idle and there was no 'noise' that I could feel. any ideas? thanks

Didn't ford have a recall on injectors in about 04-05 range?
