1953 Ford F100, another simple question

I am changing the oil on a 1953 Ford F100. I don't have an owners manual or a shop guide (yet).

What's the best kind of oil to use and how many quarts should it take?

Thanks again.

Welcome to the site. Sorry, but however many people on this particular form (# 41) is how many opinions you are going to get about oil.

So here is mine: SAE 30 of any kind, 5 qts. with a filter.

I didn’t know it, but in the master forum listing there is a Oil and Lubrication (#70) forum with 39,014 posts about oil.

i got a 53 f100 with a flathead w/o the optional filter , and i use rotella year round as it's got all the additives but the zinc or something they just recently took out , in it these engines were designed to run on . oh and up until the "recent" parking to rewire and a couple of other things , it was driven daily and the oil is changed every 1,000 miles no excuses .

Yep SAE 30/ 5 quarts. If it has over 100K miles you might want to think about SAE40. If you have hot days and cold nights (like our Arizona friends) maybe 10W30 or 10W40.
