Motortrend 2003 truck of the year????

I posted the same question about 2 weeks ago. It seemed everyone agreed. I have no clue why they chose the 150 to go against the Ram 3500, totally unfair if you ask me. I was very angry when I read that, because a ford F-350 with the 6.0 can smoke that ram any time, any day.

I dont think it was fair because all of the trucks were completely different, by the way i really like that quadrasteer, that would be handy for all the towing we do around here, I hope it is strong I noticed you couldn't tow as much with it on.

I bet that Quadrasteer won't make it to 100,000 miles. It doesn't look very sturdy. Also, if it happens to malfunction or someone screws up and crashes one of em, GM will have more lawsuits than you can shake a stick at.

Actually that fancy Quadrasteer is the GM version of an aftermarket system that is used on Monster trucks, so it has to be strong, also I have a friend that has one of these trucks (the GM) and even though it cautions you not to use the quadrasteer on dry hard pavement under a load and without moving, it doesn't heed much else as a warning, Dodge put this system in a car several years back and they recalled it because it worked on a sensor and the sensor shifted quickly while some users were driving at highway speeds and caused horrible crashes, the GM version has an actual steering sector attached to a box that turns the wheels. It doesn't matter I will never own anything made by the general.

Motortrend 2003 truck of the year????

Motor Trend's Truck of the year competition is for trucks that are either all new or significantly changed from the year before. It is not a comparison of all trucks. Next year, when the 2004 F-150 comes out, it will probably win the T of the Y.

I'd like to question your thoughts on the 5.9 and the 6.0. I know the I-6 design is a very strong one, but having 2 extra cylinders also improves torque and makes them come at a lower rpm. You just watch though, the engine in that Dodge will go through about 3 or 4 trannies throughout its lifespan. Be glad you got the Ford.

I had a 1996 Dodge only had 1 tranny in nearly 500 thou. First one lasted nearly 400. Biggest problem for most of those people having problems is common sense & service. My Buddy's is a 6 speed manual so it will be trouble free.

My father had one and the tranny went out in only 2 months. He swore he'd never buy a Dodge truck again. He says as far as he's concerned Dodges are only "toys" for those who have enough money to buy spare parts.

Motor/Truck Trend are just full of it. They know FORD is the best. So they give other names a chance too. FORD will always win.

Maybe Ford can give GM advice regarding lawsuits.

Motortrend 2003 truck of the year????

First of all it is motor trend we are talking about. Take anything they say with a grain of salt. Aren't they the ones that gave the butt-ugly avalanche the truck of the year title. The way I see it, and this is just an opinion, the truck of the year will be the one with the most new parts, features, or change in appearance. Even in years that ford has won, the competition has been lopsided. Just take solace in the fact that we own the best trucks in the world. I don't need some euro loving cost=ratings mag to tell me what to buy. Ford, and only Ford trucks for me.

Motortrend 2003 truck of the year????

A friend explained it to me. You know that magazine writers don't make a lot of money. Well they get kickbacks from the manufacturer. I am curious though. Supposedly they test only new or significantly changed trucks, BS the dodge is exactly the same, and why didnt they test the 6.0L.

Oh well, I'm "taking it with a grain of salt" as someone stated.
We all know what the best truck is, and we don't need Motor Trend telling us what is the "better truck".
