250 4x2 - 4x4 conversion delema and game plan
this swap isnt a direct bolt as i thought it would be... i really wanna keep the coil springs from my 2wd 250 and i want to buy a 4x4 bronco parts truck because of the factory twin shock tower i could swap on BUT. my truck is a 250 2wd they have coils the 250 4wd has leaf springs. my point is i cant get 150 stuff cuz they are not 8 lugs!!!! and i cant get 250 stuff cuz its leaf spring suspension not coil so. my idea. go ahead and buy the bronco (preferably a 92 same color not running maybe) for SUPER CHEEP get my hands on some 250 4wd knuckles and disc brakes and such swap the 250 4wd knuckles over to the bronco axel halves i could swap the fenders and grill from the bronco as well to have newer style headlights and grill AND if its a new enough and has the same engine swap the maf and intake tubes i could also have twin shocks cuz the broncos come with twin shock towers and id have the lower mounts on the bronco axel halves with 8 lug knuckles from a 250/350 i could take the drive shaft from the bronco for the front, i could even throw some coil over shocks from fox or procomp to lift but thats later. i could maybe swap my old 2wd **** to the bronco and sell that for probably cheaper then i got it but at least get something which would probably pay for a 4wd zf tranny/ transfer case and rear drive shaft. then id have 1988 f250 4wd with the heavy duty COIL AND 8 lug with the 1992 and up facia and maf.. how badass alot of work tho and i still need to find a non running bronco donor for cheep and get my hands on the 250 4x4 knuckles. the axel halves arent any lighter duty as far as i know so the knuckles should bolt up.. but thats my game plan what do you guys think anything im missing? and for the moment my budget is $900 lets see if i can make it happen

Is there any advantage to the twin shock setup?
As for using coilover socks, I keep hearing that since the shock mounts weren't made to be load bearing, using coilovers could cause the bracketry to break. I don't know if this is just tribal knowledge or if it's true but it's definitely something you should look into before doing it.

kinda funny you mention that. i like chevy and gmc trucks 1995's and up and i like fords too but just the mid 80's and early to mid 90's. i really want to have that half axel with coil springs 8 lugs and the twin shock towers tho. i dont really wanan go through all the work of changing the spindles or whatever i might end up getting a regular f250 4x4 and doing the swap unless the 3/4 ton trucks are solid axels? i know they have leaf springs im wondering how hard it would be to change that to match my trucks coils

Why do you want to stick to coils? I know some guys who can pick the perfect leaves for a truck so that it rides really nice.
My F150 has stock dana 44 TTB changed to 8 lug 3/4 ton chevy hubs, to match the rear 10.25.
The problem is that the dana 44 under the Bronco must have 6 nut spindles. And i am unsure of when they started using 5-lug spindles. The front ttb in my truck is from an 85 bronco selected specifically because it was a 6 bolt spindle and would work with the swap.
The chevy parts used in the swap are really heavy duty, the wheel bearing are HUGE, the rotors are HUGE, the calipers are HUGE. And a dana 44 is a dana 44 whether it be Ford or chevy.

i want the coils to have the twin shock tower but i want it to look factory. and the big rotors and what not sound interesting but what about the anti lock on the front? do they have wheel speed sensors that work with the fords? or was it only the rear on my truck has anti lock. which is kinda funny when it was raining the otehr day the back wheels kept locking up under light breaking
