Check your door or door post for a placard with an axle code.

You may also get lucky and find the tag on the rear axle, which will be on one of the studs holding the carrier to the housing.

If your speedo is accurate, and you have a tach, we can get close if you give a mph/rpm in top gear or whatever is 1:1 if you have an OD trans, PLUS your tire size.

THe placard is unreadable and the axle tag is missing. I would figure that most of the broncos would have a standard gear ratio depending on the motor and tranny setup. I have a 302 w/ a C4.

Probably 3.54/3.50 earlier years could be ordered with 4.10/4.11's.

Yea, usually 3:50 gears in 77. Look at the vin plate on the glovebox door. All your info will be there. Compare against info found here: broncohio The six cyl. engines usually had 4:10 gears.

Well the plate on the glovebox is gone. I also decoded the vin # from the title and I think somone might have done some number swapping because the # says its a 73, but it has the 77 inverted y steering, power steering, power brakes, and front disk brakes.

Thats why you have to be so carefull when buying. People piece one together, sell and problems arise later.

I dont have any problems. I got the registration and I got an antique plate with no questions asked so I'm good to go. My wife is about to take the notary test, so when she does, Ill get her to do the right paperwork to get the vin# right. Then I will save the old title so that if I find another one without a title, problem solved.
