Just wondering how long it took you to do your EGR delete. I am thinking about doing one but if its a big job I may pay some one to do it.

Take a drive down to Abilene and I will do it for the right price. It's really not that hard I would say I can do it in 3-4 hrs. 5 tops.

Im in the same boat as you Powerstroke.I have been shopping the job in the New Orleans area to change the oil cooler and install my EGR delete kit and have gotten quotes that range from 540.00 to 1030.00.They are saying 10-13 hours.Im thinking I can do it myself.I swapped my turbo out myself and it doesnt look like the oil cooler and EGR coler are much deeper than the turbo.looks like its just the next layer of stuff to take off.

They can be done in 3-5 hours if you have done a few. if you havent then it will take the better part of a day.

If you get to the point of having the turbo removed you have it beat. The first time took about 8 hours, The third one took 5. It is just nuts and bolts. Take a picture of where the various types of manifold hold down bolts go. That saves time when reassembling.

Lol yall make it sound easy. I'm looking to go 3 layers deep though and do the oil cooler, fix the egr and head gaskets and studs. But I'm seriously debating finding someone else to do it.

Now doing the studs and everything would take me a weekend. I don't have the experience like cheezit, but I did mine and helped a few friends do there's.

Cheezit,

i can relate to your small guy comment even though I am not small. My nephew is 21 years old, 5'5" tall and 145 pounds. The little ******** is strong though.

Luubock...

Although Cheezit will laugh at me for saying this, I would seriously consider removing the front bumper and the coolers all the way back to the core support to do the "Big Three" you referenced. It is quite simple to pull that stuff off and it sure makes working over the top of the engine much easier. I do not know what the FMC 6.0 cylinder head lifting bracket costs to buy but if it was at all affordable I would get one. Getting the heads back in at the right angle and pitch is a nut buster without an engine hoist. It is also much easier to get the hoist in the right spot without thre front on. Good Luck

Are there any good instructions on how to do it? What better blocking off the egr or an egr delete. Or is there any difference?
