well after changing the atf in my truck, i overfilled it approx 1/2 quart. the transmission in my truck is a e4od and on the dipstick the fluid shows approx 1/2 to 1/4 inch above the top of the crosshatch section. fluid was checked when hot and truck was running.

should i drop the pan and drian some or forget about it...

 

it will just blow it out

 

drain some out of the converter.

i do not think it will 'blow it out'.

 

if its over full i would drain some out like Quick said , or if you have a hand pump with a long hose you can pull it out thru the dipstick tube .....Lew

 

Is the level above the crosshatch area and was it measured with the engine running?

 

yes the truck was running and hot when i checked the fluid level. the fluid level is 1/8 to a 1/4 inch above the cross hatch area..
