Just picked up my new truck.
Well, I'm now a Diesel guy. I recently picked up a new 5th wheel, and while the old 2003 5.4L did an admirable job, it's just not gonna cut it for long distance or numerous trips. So I made the leap. This is a 2008 Lariat with only 25,000 miles. And my favorite color..Forest Green! I don't normally care much for the two-tone, but the Pueblo Gold accent looks great on this one. It has a couple of minor issues since it was a repo (remote radio controls, needs new tires), but runs great and the Oasis came back clean. I could have done without the long bed, but I'll get used to it.
I do have a couple of questions on it. I found the original window sticker (link in another post), and it says it has the "10,000# GVWR Package" and "Traction Control". What are these..specifically the 10,000# GVWR? The traction control I can pretty much figure out..there's a TCS button on the dash that I presume limits the gears somehow for better traction??
Anyway, here's a couple of pics..going in later today for the new tires and other minor issues to get fixed.

very nice! I like the two tone as well and the leather is nice. Hard to keep the steering wheel clean but that is about it.
TCS is run by the ABS if I recall when it detects loss of traction in the wet conditions. I think what it does is apply some braking power to the wheel that is slipping in an attempt to get the other wheel to move. That is how it works on my crown vic.
10K sticker refers to how much your truck can wieght fully loaded with people, cargo, payload. In your case with the king pin wt of the 5er.
So what is the king pin wt? I just bought a new 5er myself so really easy to exceed that wt.
You should take your truck accross the scales and see how much that rear axle is, that will determine if you would have an issue. My rear axle comes in a little over 3100 lbs empty with me and a full tank. Rear end is rated for 6100 lbs, thus I will be ok with the king pin wt.

Man, the crew cab with the 8' bed makes for a lot of truck. It's only another 16" or so, but wow, it looks a lot bigger! Even backing into my driveway takes some minor adjustment. But yeah...I'll get used to it!

Much prettier than mine.
I just bought my first pick-up (a week ago Saturday) to replace the '89 chebby 3/4 ton I was borrowing to tow my race car. All I wanted was a slab of metal with an engine at one end and a hitch at the other. Wound up with a 2WD '01 f350 XL 7.3PSD with 89k miles. White. Standard cab. If it were any more generic it'd have a bar code and the word "truck" in Arial font on the side.
Friday, I helped my kid and his buddy tow his buddy's broken F150 home. His buddy said, "I feel sick." "Why?" "My truck doesn't accelerate like this under its own power."
I think I'm gonna like this. After I put in a stereo and maybe some Dynamat. Oh yeah, and cruise control.
