fuel milage on f 700
i an looking to buy a f 700 with a flatbed dump.
i am wanting to start a company to haul lumber machinery exct.
used to run a f 700 with a 429 and 5 and 2.
it was a great truck for lumber hauling. it would outrun our trucks with the cat and a six speed, mostly cause i would use the high and low axle as a ten speed .
plus it gave you a low low reverse and low low first for off road on the job sites.
it also had a locker rear end that was noisy when it engaged . but locked both axles up to about 10 mph or so.
anyway i would like to go with a gasser just due to the fact i can find one cheaper, and easy to maintain.
can anyone with a 429 set-up and a cat tell me what they are getting for fuel milage?
if the cat is easyer on fuel it might make up for maintinence costs

I aggree
All my 56 yr old trucks repowered with 391FT Clark 5OD X2. F900s. I
wouldnt trade for anything and I swear they are better on gas than
my pickup with a little 302. Around here diesel $3 bucks a gal. no thanks
however I do have diesels and they drink pretty good. With reasonable
care gas jobs will serve quite well. Years ago Ill never forget the deep
throat sounds of them 534s we had, now thats 3miles a gallon, then
who cared at 26 cents a gallon~sam
