Dirty rotten scroundrels!

I'll be darn, went out to fire of the tractor this morning, and noticed the key was "on"...only thing the key does is allow me to hit the starter button to make juice to the solenoid...so it could be left on for a year, and not run the battery down....

Anyways, I thought "odd", why is the key on?

So, I push on the fuel cutoff valve, try to start it...almost a dead battery.

WTF...just used this tractor two days ago...so got me to thinking....as I went over to get the charger, I noticed the big chain I leave on the Scraper is missing!

Get's me to thinking...dead battery, missing chain...fuel cutoff still pulled out...someone tried to steal my tractor...couldn't do it because the fuel cutoff was pulled out, and ran the battery down trying...then took my chain for solace/consolation prize.

So, now I've got a fully charged battery, fuel cutoff set so it's ready to fire off...and one little suprise waiting for the foolish SOB if he/she comes back.

May have to change a few more hose's on the backhoe so I can dig a deep hole.

Just don't forget about the little surprise when you go to fire it up yourself

It really sucks when someone violates your stuff like that. Hard not to take it personally.

The Saga continues...I went to pull out a trailer out back, knew I needed to move Thumpers front and rear ends, so hooked out the forklifts to the tractor to scoop'em up and get them out of the way...and hey...the D60 rearend is GONE!

Dirty basta.rds must have scooped it up that night, or came back later!

Dan,

You best hustle down here and get that D44 soon...I moved it up closer, but couldn't fanagle it into the barn.

I figure it had to be some crackhead scrapper types, or else they would have grabbed the frontend for resale, D60's are a dime a dozen, D44 HP's have got to be worth more money?

Guess I'll be getting good at pipe welding with my arc welder in order to build a gate and fence.

I figure these flawkers had to drive back there, noway they could have just picked that rearend and walked it to the road (if they did, I don't want to mess with them), so I'm gonna incoporate my own little spike strip out of an old harrow bed I have have laying out back...oh, they'll get in, get stuff loaded, but it'll be a sorry day for them when they pull out!

I hate thieves...just hate 'em! I would dearly love to catch some pukes like that in the act sometime.

As I recall, you were doing a good bit a of scrapping yourself a while back so you must know the scrapyard guys on a first-name basis by now...why not run down there and see if our D60 is there and if it is, see if they can give you description of the dirtbags who scrapped it to turn over to the cops?

That's a good idea, and there's only two or three places that unload by hand, the rest of them use either the big magnets or an excavator.

I might be heading that way within the next week or two, I'll try to plan it so I can stop by and pick up the D44 front.

And hopefully it'll still be here!

I did make a few calls yesterday though, pretty much got the same response, either "not sure", or if someone did bring it in they would have cut it up for prepared steel prices...seems scrap is around 200 a ton now, so I guess that makes it profitable to cut things up with the torch.

Can you wrap a chain around it and padlock it to something immovable so they can't drag it off without cutting it in half with a torch? (And then make sure the torch is locked up so they can't get that creative with it...!)
