Help with year.....

I have been told my F150 is a 1977, but there are a few things that point to it being a 1966....can anyone tell me off the following numbers:
7A86G130801084908 or F14SC084908, I got these off the NZ rego form, if they are wrong, I will go look at the ID tag.
Cheers, Shane

F14 = F150 4WD Pickup

S = 400 2V

C = Oakville, Ontario Canada Assembly Plant

O84908 = 1977 Numerical Sequence of Assembly (Serial Number)

Sure, and post all the codes from the Warranty Plate. I'll decode all of that jazz, too.

There are more than a few things that differentiate a 66 from a 77. They are complete different bodies. Did you make a typo and mean 76?

AXLE code: M3 might be H3 = Ford 9" / 2.75-1 / Limited Slip / 3750 lb. Rear Axle Capacity.

Hi Bill, and thanks for that....I can't help but be dissapointed that it is Canadian.....but them's the breaks.
Yeah, I had a typo, I meant 1977, or 1976, not 1966. Bill answered that for me!!

Being assembled in Canada does not mean it was only sold in Canada.

Most 1965/72 and all 1973/79 Crew Cabs were assembled in Canada, most were sold in the US of A.

I've decoded VIN's of Canadian assembled trucks, but...by their DSO codes, these were ordered from Atlanta GA and Pittsburgh PA.

Look on the Warranty Plate for the DSO code, post what it is.

Is the white sticker on the door jamb what you refer to as the "Warranty Plate"? And yes the axil code was H3.

Thanks for your help.

Do you know what city the Michigan Truck Plant is in? I could not find the Medium Chestnut Metallic on the Ford Truck Color list. Would the interior paint have been the same color? I need to restore the dash to the original color. After looking again the Axil Code is H3. And I guess Flareside = Stepside?

Thanks for the help.

It was in Dearborn (The Rouge). Where it is today, I dunno, as Ford built a new Michigan plant several years ago.

I could not find the Medium Chestnut Metallic on the Ford Truck Color list.
What Ford Truck Color list would that be?

It's listed in the 1973/79 Ford Light Truck Parts Catalog and in the 1973/79 Ford Passenger Car Parts Catalog.

The BODY code is AT3: A = Upholstery color = Sand all Vinyl // T = Dash color = Sand // 3 = Custom, with FLARESIDE box.

And I guess Flareside = Stepside NOT! A Stepside is a Chevrolet.
COLOR code V = Medium Chestnut Metallic (Ford basic part number 5144) was also used on 1973/79 Passenger Cars with a COLOR code of 5M

The metal Warranty Plate is riveted on the left door face below the latch.

The white Safety Standard's Certification Label is glued onto the door face or glued onto the B pillar, below the striker plate.
