transport trailer from 50s wanted.
Hi Guys...I posted this on 48-60 list, and realized I forgot about the large truck site.
I am thinking of a old school transport trailer for my 56 and 57 F600 TRUCKS.
I want a trailer to load up 3-5 trucks at once and go.
Maybe something in the 70s but will consider anything that is useable.
I have a fifth wheel plate and a 175 inch wheelbase on the 56.
I have a lead on one....but where did all these old trailers end up at?
Thanks
Bill

Just did a search, and on page one:
EZ HAUL Car Carrier Trailers, Used EZ HAUL Car Carrier Trailers, EZ HAUL Car Carrier Trailers For Sale At TruckPaper.com
They have a way to search by brand and year etc.
Ditto here:
Used vehicle transport trailers for sale at Mascus USA
And others.
As to where they all went--worn out and scrapped is my guess. Unlike an old flatbed trailer, it's not easy to store junk on/under one I suppose, so they don't get parked and covered as easily... perhaps...wag wag wag

I found a 1950s trailer in Mississippi and it is a 5-6 car hauler trailer and is not too bad of shape. It needs tires and some welding done, but if I can get owner to agree to my price....may just buy it.
I will be actually using this to haul my fleet to Florida and possibly to car shows.
I am not a trophy-chaser or big car show guy. I like to cruise and drive my stuff. If this trailer works out it will save me alot of hassle hauling my trucks to my ranch.
Thanks guys.....will tell you if it works out.

I have a pic at work of a car hauler trailer from the 20s, and its a single axle trailer pulled by a single axle dual rear wheel truck. There are rails on the side of the trailer and the cars are on about a 40 degree angle nose up, and the front wheels of all the cars are strapped on a sliding mount with wheels that roll forward or back on those rails I described.
The only car carriers Ive seen from the 50s are a big wedge where there are ramps and you drive the vehicle up the incline, and put the ramps away.

Go for it...! You'll get lots of added attention for sure. Can we see some pics... ???
I used to vend parts at swap meets out of a 65 Rambler wagon pulling a 1962 Shasta camper... even would bring plastic flamingos to attract attention. Wanting to travel longer distances I began looking for a car hauler to transport the pair. Ended up buying a 1966 NASCAR vintage racecar hauler ( former owner Bobby Allison ).
These days, I get more attention from the big rig than from the Rambler/Shasta so now I just vend parts out of the old car hauler.... go figure...!
