Where to get larger rear fuel tank?

I have a 97 F350 and would like to replace the rear fuel tank with a larger one. I did a search but couldnt find exactly what I was looking for. I believe the one in there now is either 16 or 18 gal. I would like to get a 30 or 32gal and the proper sender so that my guage will work properly with it. Please give me some direction. Thanks

when i did mine i got a tank from a 95 bronco. i dont remember now exactly how i did it but i used the float arm from the sender that came with the tank and put it on my original sender unit. had to modify it some here and there. it doesnt read accurate at full tank but i dont care. i wanted it accurate at empty. i had to get some new bolts, really long. dont remember the length but it worked well. i think the biggest issue i had was getting the fill tube installed and routed just right. still dont like it but it works.

i would suggest that if you are gonna be there anyways go ahead and do the fast fillup mod. you will certainly want to use the faster nozzles with a larger tank.

THe bronco tanks are 33 gallons, but you can do one better and get a 38 gallon tank from a 87-89 F-Series.

The bronco tank doesn't fit as well because it's narrower. The 38 gallon tank is the same width as stock, just hangs down a little more. Check it out at www.dzljim.com
He did the mod wiht both the bronco tank and then the 38 gallon later.

You can buy the tank at RockAuto Auto Parts for about $185

Hi there I've put a 40 gallon tank midship on my 1996 crewcab all I had to do is drill some new holes for the brackets and switch two wires in the wire harnest and in the plug on the new tank.A f550 rear tank with fit into you truck to should be a good fit just have to do mod's to the frame for the filler pipe and wires for the plugs it doesn't matter about the fuel pump in the tank as the midship tank has a pump is and it didn't matter for my f350 7.3 crewcab.gene

Put a 38 gallon rear tank in my truck this week, from LMC Truck. I followed the advice at this site: www.dzljim.com... which has already been mentioned. Even had the tow package that bolted inside the frame and still made it work.. all I had to do was remove it then put it back on after I installed the tank. Some may stick out to the inside further than mine though. Hard to get to some of the nuts, but it worked. One other thing I had to do was lengthen the drop down brackets about a half inch as my bed was hitting the top of the gas tank using the supplied bolts and pipes.

I put a 100 gallon tank with pump and filter in the bed. When the camper is on in the future I will mount it on the back end of my 97 which is about to be made into a trailer and lifted and painted to match the 94.

OK what year F550? I really want to do this. what exactly did you do to the frame? the rock auto part number for the 38 gallon rear tank i think is F26.

All I could find that might work is the spectra F45b and its 30 gallons. that along with the f26 makes for 68 total gallons not bad. i wonder what needs to be done to the frame to make it work. not liking the idea of modifying the frame really.I once drove my dads super doody from detroit mi to houlton maine without stopping for fuel. that was cool so I want that for my truck.
