When will the details about the 2011 Expedition become available? I may be trading my 2005 EB on a new EB, trying to understand the 2010/2011 differences to decide whether to buy a '10 now or wait for the '11's.
"Several" as in 3+? You really think so? It's now March, I would think that we would at least see press leakage very soon. When does the actually '11 build begin for Expeditions, late July/early August?
My dealer had some initial information by late April-May. . .but I couldn't place until June with confirmed pricing. Keep in mind 2010 might be unique as well, because they switched from one plant to another in March and the new plant just started with Special Order 09s, then straight to production 2010s.
If the Kentucky plant (where the Expedition is now assembled) operates like the Michigan plant, then the facility will close sometime during the summer for their annual summer shutdown. It lasts about two weeks, and then the plant restarts for the remainder of the year.
The Expedition is now built along side the Super Duty, and a thoroughly refreshed 2011 Super Duty is currently on its way, the plant is likely already producing the 2011 pickup, since Ford announced the truck will get a very early release (Spring 2010)
I suspect production of the 2011 Expedition will start when the plant reopens from its 2010 summer shutdown. This was the production schedule Ford had for the Expedition when it was being assembled in Michigan.
As for 2011 changes? I don’t think the 2011 Expedition will be too impressive. If Ford holds to the original plan, the 2012 Expedition will get some cosmetic, electronic and mechanical updates. An all-new Expedition is possible since GM announced an all-new Tahoe, Suburban and co. is on the way, due around 2013.
The outgoing 2010 Expedition (which went on sale late last year) has some minor tweaks over the 2009 Expeditions.

Thanks for the info guys. It's a shame Ford has not done more with the 5.4 Expedition motor, considering that the V6 in the new Mustang now puts out 305hp, just 5 less than the 5.4. I would think that 350hp/400 ft/lbs would be well within reach at the current fuel economy standards..
I returned last night from a fishing trip, about 1000 mile round trip. I saw a number of large SUVs on the road, the MB, Range Rover, large Lexus, etc. not sure I would really rather have any of them over a new EB or Limited Expedition..
The truth is that the 5.4 is tried and true and more than adequate for the majority of people with an expedition (notice I didn't say a majority of people on this board).
It is an adequate motor, just not gobs of power like some of the higher end GM and Toyota motors, but they definitely pay for it in mileage too.
got early pamphlet on '11 expedition. Wouldnt buy '10. EB is out, its gonna be xlt premium pkg. Also gonna have sport pkge which is basically EB with gray trim. I am buying sport for my wife. Otherwise essentially unchanged from '10. If you need EB name on it then buy a '10 now. otherwise would wait for '11 to come out and order xlt premium. first build was to be mid august. PS info come from a dealer (my uncle)
