It's still hard to believe they stopped collecting tolls once it was paid for.

I dare say that's un-American. Illinois would never make that mistake.

Happy Birthday bridge!
Reminds me of watching the movie, Gone in 60 seconds by Toby Halicki. A few good shots of the bridge, the toll booths, and the South Bay in general.
Some interesting facts included Halicki starring in the movie, as a very low budget movie $150k, it grossed over 40 mil. Many scenes were bootlegged without city approvals to save money. Many scenes were filmed in his shop where the stolen vehicles were stored but he had to continue to repair vehicles in between filming to help pay for the film.
The longest chase scene in movie history for over 40 mins.
Several people almost died, including Halicki himself, crashing into a light pole at over 100 mph, stopping production for months. JC Agajanian Jr, a rolled police car driver, and the famous jump almost killed others. The jump, which Halicki did himself, compacted 10 veterbra.
He died years later trying to do another stunt while producing a sequel when a tower cable collapsed.
Makes me want to watch it again.

Your second guess is wrong, but your first is........

Right!

Barstow, California, guessing around 1950.

Shoulda clammed up after the first guess

The mountain in back of the Harold's Cafe sign gave it away.
